“THE” Ambulance trip

Rule of the Thumb: In case of emergency and ambulance is running with sirens on, it has the right of way.

This applies in every country.

She couldn’t breath. We all panic! I called 4 hospitals asking for ambulance, none of them have one. *i was thinking, what kind of hospitals are these?

I called the “hospital-for-rich-people” and tried my luck. Told them i will pay, just send us an ambulance and they said call the emergency hotline..

I thought.. “Oh yeah, emergency hotline….” but my words where “this is emergency!! i wouldn’t call you if it’s not emergency!!! why do i need to call the hotline?”

Like a child, i hang up, called the “emergency number”. I was on hold… on the emergency number!! ON HOLD!!! (WTF!!!)

After a good ten minutes.. a lady answered the phone. i was relieved. i explained for the Nth time that i need an ambulance for my mum and i need it NOW! she put me on hold again and told me she will call the nearest hospital…… 2 minutes later, a third person joined the line. He asked me for my address and i willingly told them.. after several questions, they left me an assuring parting words.. “we will be there in less than 15 minutes”

10 minutes after, the same lady rang me.. she said that the ambulance had an accident and now.. WE DON”T HAVE AN AMBULANCE

i cried of frustration.. cried with no tears.

with all might, i picked up the phone and called another hospital.. and at last, they have an ambulance. and this time, they are close to where we are… i was relieved.

10 minutes after, i can hear the sirens.. i ran outside and waved my hands like a crazy woman.

the medical team ran into our home and checked my mum.. right there and then, they said we have to take her.

again, i felt relieved..

they put her in, and we took the front seat. my heart is beating and i am so scared.

then journey began. i’ve seen how unorganised people are here. They don’t have the “emergency lane”, they don’t give way and they don’t listen. Sirens were ON, head lights were ON.

now i know why the other ambulance crashed, coz these people don’t give way.

then an impact happened!!

*BLAG*

i thought of her and tried to look at the back, the doctors are down and nurses are trying to protect her.

the driver is Ok, his seatbelt is on.. my dad is OK, his seatbelt is on.

I don’t have a seatbelt.. and got bruises.. but i am ok.

a car smashed the ambulance.. because he doesn’t want to give way.

i thought that was it for my mum. then the ambulance started running again, leaving the other car behind. we are all OK, just bruises and bumps on our head.

we reached the ER.

i was relieved…until……..(to be continued)

One Response to ““THE” Ambulance trip”

  1. chikee, im sorry to hear about your mum. listen, i remember the accident very well because it happened in our street (evangelista cor estrella st) if im not mistaken. i was thinking how insensitive and stupid the car was, considering na may laman nga yung ambulance. i feel sorry for whoever it was na nasa loob ng ambulance. i didn’t know it was your mum.
be strong and may god bless you.
